So, it’s been a minute since I blogged last. I hate being out of the loop but the truth is, I’m just too busy juggling everything. Ciaran made a valid point though; “you make time for love island every night…” then I realised what it really was, was that I don’t have any ideas for posts, so The Mama Tag seemed the perfect place to start! Thank you Charlotte from ‘Simply Together’ check out her tag here: http://simplylottie.com/index.php/2018/07/20/the-mama-tag/
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU HAD YOUR FIRST CHILD?
I was 21 years old.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING PREGNANT FOR 9 MONTHS?
The fact that I was so poorly, in and out of hospital.
CAN YOU THINK OF ANY GOOD THINGS YOU ENJOYED DURING THOSE 9 MONTHS?
I absolutely loved my bump, I loved dressing it, oiling it up and feeling him move around.
IN YOUR OPINION, WERE ALL THE THINGS YOU HEARD ABOUT CHILDBIRTH ACCURATE OR WAY OFF?
WOULD YOU HAVE HANDLED CHILDBIRTH DIFFERENTLY IF YOU COULD RE-DO IT?
Absolutely, I was so impatient, I should have been more calm and allowed what was happening to happen and accepted that I was out of control.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS ABOUT TO HAVE A BABY?
Ask for help if you need it, JUST. ASK.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING A MUM?
Feeling like every little thing is a mummy failure, not knowing what to do for the best.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT BEING A MUM?
Watching him develop and grow, witnessing his personality shining!
WHAT WAS THE MOST SURPRISING THING YOU DISCOVERED ABOUT BEING A MUM?
That your life does still go on, people made out like that was it, it’s over, it’s really not.
WHAT IS THE BEST MEMORY YOU HAVE INVOLVING YOUR CHILD?
“love you mummy”
WHAT WAS THE MOST EXCITING MILESTONE?
Walking, for sure!
WHAT IS THE WORST THING YOUR CHILD HAS EVER DONE?
Pulled a load of poo out of his nappy and smeared it over his face and bedroom.
WHAT HABIT DID YOU WISH YOUR CHILD DIDN’T HAVE?
He pulls apart my toes and puts his toes in between, like feet holding hands!
WHAT HABIT OF THEIRS MAKE YOU MOST PROUD?
He always looks after me, rubs and kisses my tummy when it’s ‘sore’ and roars at and tells Ciaran to go and away when he’s ‘hurting’ me (realistically he’s just clicking my back)
DO YOU SHARE ANY SIMILARITIES WITH YOUR CHILD? (BOTH PHYSICAL & PERSONALITY)
Physically, he’s my twin. Personality, he’s daddy- a complete joker.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CHILD TO BE IN 10 YEARS?
Goodness, he will be a teenager!! Happy and thriving.
IS THERE SOMETHING THAT HAVING A CHILD HAS TAUGHT YOU?
I now know that all the weekends are precious, that might sound a bit weird, but pre-child I’d easily waste a week doing absolutely nothing. But now I know those days and hours are so important.
DID YOU IMAGINE YOU’D BE A MUM AT THE AGE YOU BECOME A MUM?
I thought I’d have a baby in 2020, then I thought I’d never be able to have children so now I’m glad I started when I did.
DESCRIBE YOUR CHILD IN ONE SENTENCE?
The most kind, caring, loving and crazy little monkey, my best friend and love of my life.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED AS A PERSON SINCE BECOMING A MUM?
I am more cut throat, with people and things, I’m more aware of the important things in life now. Strangely, it’s also made me put myself first more, and think more about what’s actually good for me and what I need, because I need to give a lot of myself to another person now and in order to do that I need to be sorted myself.
